Similar to countless other wine cellars, Podmaniczky Winery and Vineyard started as a hobby family enterprise in 1979. After moving to Balatonföldvár, the family bought the winery and the adjacent vineyard, turning it into a successful business recognized by the Dél-balatoni-borút Egyesület (South Balaton Wine Road Association). The family has vineyards in Kőröshegy and Szólád, as well as a cutting-edge processing facility. They use reductive and traditional, wooden barrel fermentation methods to produce their wines; their most prominent sorts are Rheinriesling, pinot blanc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, Blaufränkisch and Irsai Olivér. We especially recommend that you spend some time sitting under the walnut tree near the winery and enjoying a glass of wine and the beautiful sunset. However, you will have to look elsewhere to find more substantial wine snacks.
